Signs of Life

It's Saturday - spring is SPRUNG!!!! I am sitting on the porch enjoying a 70 degree sunny day with no wind. Finally - it's awakened something in me. I want to do every hobby, clean out my clothes, deep clean the apartment and do a load of laundry. I am back in action now!

I say that knowing that there is snow in the forecast for 3 consecutive days next week. This is the worst part about living here - the constant back and fourth. For a second you think the depressing state of winter is gone, and then you get snow at the end of March. I think March is the worst month for that reason.

Today I am going to Jimmy's bags tournament at a near-by outdoor restaurant - I have a few friends coming to meet up with us and I simply can't wait.

Jimmy Buffet, the Prophet

Everyday I see crazy things produced by humanity - I often have Jimmy Buffets 'Fruitcakes' playing in my head. Specifically this lyric:
'human beings are flawed individuals
The cosmic bakers took us out of the oven a little too early
And that's the reason we're as crazy as we are and I believe it'

What sparked this ramble?

I was just doom-scrolling on LinkedIn and saw a post that got lots of interaction. It was a woman posting an AI headshot of herself, highly encouraging others to experiment with their own AI-headshots. The top rated comment on the post was about the fact that your Linkedin profile is supposed to be about YOU - what's personal about an AI headshot? Literally nothing. We're talking about a headshot full of pixels based off of you - but it's NOT you - and most of the time, something about those AI headshots is just OFF.

Top comment in question:

"Pause and reflect. Understand what you're accepting when you say that an AI-generated picture of yourself is you. Imagine what that means for everyone you know, for businesses, and for the creative industry when people accept that as reality. That image was generated by a large language AI, powered by large companies and super-rich people in control of these companies, trained on other people’s work, and shaped by your prompt. Not one pixel came from a photon. Not one pixel is you. You must understand that. "
We've lost touch with a lot - in short, our humanity. Just yesterday, I saw a post on reels with a screenshot of bets on Polymarkets when missiles or nuclear weapons will strike Israel or the US - why are we betting on war or the end of humanity? Literally WHY?

Human beings ARE flawed individuals, and with time, we've gotten more flawed. In fact, we've lost the plot. Hence, my love and appreciation for 'Fruitcakes' by Jimmy Buffet.

It's a jungle out their kitties - have a very fruitful day!

Do all Mondays feel like Mondays?

Entry 3.23.26
It's Monday. Today I had free time to build my blog - I have been thinking about building one for the last couple weeks since picking up journaling again. I am sick of having my hand cramp - though my physical journaling journey isn't going away… I am just going to be brain dumping more frequently.

The writing will be good for me. It's definitely a skill I need to improve on.

Over the weekend, we enjoyed the treat of a 75 degree day in the middle of March. Jimmy and I started with tennis, then went to Albertville, and tennis again. My forearm is still sore from tennis. At Albertville, I realized how hard it is to spend my $ on new things - some things are easier than others. With clothes - their value mostly goes down. I had that sentiment when we visited the Lululemon outlet, and I only felt the need to buy one shirt - it wasn't even on a deal, but I've been searching Depop for a while and they're kinda hard to come by. Then I went on a second hand spree - because why would I purchase full price lululemon jackets for $99 plus when I can buy online used, maybe worn once, for under $40. That's just girl math.

Sunday I baked 2 loaves of sourdough, and we headed to Stillwater for dinner. We headed to Tad's and had a good time - honestly nothing like some good family time to put you in a thankful mood.

Now it's Monday - I didn't have a drop of alcohol over the weekend, but I still feel hungover. My brain just isn't working - I have been trying to cut down my screen and social media time but it's hard on weekends where all you have is free time. Also - it's easier to cut down in the summer when you can go outside, put on a playlist and start walking.
